Image Transfers
Thursday, November 13, 2008 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
There’s a fun and simple, non-toxic method of transferring printed images that can be adhered to fabrics, canvas, paper, metal, leather, wood and any other surface that accepts acrylic paint. We will learn the basic technique for making a transparent clear image with acrylic polymer medium followed by play with jazzy transfer possibilities such as textures, iridescents, and color tinting.
Varnishing: Preserve and Protect your Finished Paintings
Friday, November 14, 2008 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Why varnish? How important is it really? How long do I have to wait after I finish my painting? What are the best varnishes to use? Will the varnish recipes that worked for Rembrandt work for me? What is the difference between acrylic varnishes and mineral spirit-based acrylic varnishes? Do varnishes need to be removable? Can I paint over a varnished painting? Come have your questions answered, watch a demonstration, and practice varnishing technique. Learn about aerosol varnishes, UV light stabilizers, and the different steps for varnishing acrylic vs. oil paintings.
